What is Newsround?

Newsround is the best opportunity to discover what your colleagues do, through a dynamic session : 3-minute presentations will be made by participants who have been selected before the meeting; they can use this time to present themselves, their project or their organisation. You shouldn't miss this session if you want to learn more about what is going on in other countries and meet colleagues, who might be your future project-partners!

Selected projects (a bilingual handout summing up all projects will be distributed during the session)

Cantabile 2 (Denmark): Cantabile 2 is a regional theatre producing its own performances and at the same time organizing an international biannual festival. We are looking for dialogue partners, who work with the same double interest, and who would like to exchange concepts and ideas for festivals that have grown out of a specific artistic work. Our own artistic interest is in visual performances, installation- and streetart, mime and sitespecific works.

Introduction to Culture Action Europe (Belgium): Culture Action Europe's objectives, activities and main achievements. Reasons for IETM members to engage in European political debates and joint actions.

ODIA Normandie - a local tool for artistic teams (France): Support for the circulation of performing arts and artistic advice. Coordination of a regional network and organisation of professional meetings. Advice on actions lead at a local level and development of peformance venues in the Normandie region. Lifelong training and gathering of resources about performing arts.

FAST (Denmark) : FAST is the Danish Association for Small Theatres. We focus particularly on supporting and improving the working conditions of Small theatres that work mainly with performances for adult audiences. We are looking for similar national or european organisations, in order to develop a network and exchange experiences around theatre-political and union issues.

FiraTarrega 2009 (Spain): Presentation of the highlights of the artistic programme of FiraTarrega 2009 (companies: Sol Pico, Pan Optikum+Efimer, Claire, Escarlata Circus, among others) and the projects addressed to professionals: Round table with the representatives of the circus and street arts from Québec and the Seminar of the european project Meridians.

Image Aiguë (France): An artistic and social laboratory for: creativity with actors (to create long-lasting conditions for the fulfilment of artistic actions that address the concerns of the public, in order to promote artistic engagement in our global societies) and to imagine with audiences (to promote informed opinions and to encourage social dialogue).

Plan B (Scotland): General introduction of plan B dance company as a new member of IETM

Prague Quadriennal (Czech Republic): The presentation will give a short glimpse on Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space that presents contemporary work in a variety of performance design disciplines and genres. PQ as an exhibition with a wide spectrum of live events and a large meeting of theatre professionals and students from all over the world. Short description of the concept of the PQ 2011.

Centre for Arts and Creativity (Slovakia): Centre for Arts and Creativity is long term project of Theatre Poton. It completes their efforts to find a suitable space for not only performing, but also for other activities dedicated mainly to specialists working in performing arts. The Centre should provide conditions for systematic educational and creative activities for professionals and students. In the Centre for Arts and Creativity program, there are workshops and studios for artists, residential stays and guest performances.

Yartloom.com (Russia): We present a new approach for developing art communities by using the international social network Yartloom.com designed for creative industries. We're going to talk about the core functionality of Yartloom.com that allows art managers to develop local communities and present them to the international art community. We will focus on how this approach works for the Russian contemporary dance scene.

Camin Aktion (France): camin aktion' is a future organisation, based in Montpellier from September 2009 onwards. Working in the field of dance development and cooperation, with a special focus on hiphop, one strong orientation will be the cultural & artistic cooperation between artists and organisations from different countries around the Mediterranean, and support for the mobility of artists and performances within this region.

Père Courage (France): 'Père Courage' is like a sturdy horse with iron flanks. Powered by a thermal energy, he pounds the towns and countryside from East to West with his steely hooves. As if in a travel journal, he delicately plucks his meetings with imaginary characters from the various territories around Europe. He tells their human saga with his wise animal gaze. Both believers and people who doubt seem to find courage in the rhythm of his steps. Does being close to this raw animal power allow mankind to escape its own animal nature?
