IETM Multi-location in Hong Kong (online)
The local Plenary meeting in Hong Kong will be hosted by our member Materialise. Please find below the introduction by the local hosts, as well as the local programme and practical information of the local meeting.
IMPORTANT: Given current travel and gathering restrictions, the local meeting in Hong Kong shifted online. Please refer to the programme below to connect to the online sessions.
Introduction by the local hosts
Artistic exchanges between Europe and Asia have massively grown over the last fifteen years, thanks to local initiatives across Asia as well as partnerships with European presenters. The recent emergence of Asian artists on the global stage has also led to collaboration opportunities between institutions from APAC, suddenly creating an international sense of community in different cultures, historically separated by languages and a lot of seas.
As the Covid-19 pandemic challenges these crucial exchanges, particularly vital for artists in South East Asia who cannot receive governmental support, it is time to reinforce our transcontinental relationships and make sure that our rich Asian art scene does not get forgotten in the reset / new deal to come.
We hope that the experience of the numerous IETM members can inspire organisations and individuals across Asia and that, through this digital plenary meeting, new connections can arise.
Materialise is a Hong Kong based performing arts production company that collaborates with artists from Europe and Asia, calling works into life and disseminating them in both continents and beyond.
Under the artistic and executive direction of Stéphane Noël, a former advisor and long time member of IETM, Materialise has sought to foster exchanges between Asia in Europe, particularly by supporting the development and production of Asian artist, but also through international platforms for national cultural institutions such as Pro Helvetia (CH), The Saison Foundation (JP), Korea Arts Management Service (KR), National Arts Council (SG), and the National Culture and Arts Foundation (TW).
Registrations for this local meeting closed on 30 September. You can still join the full online programme.
Maximum capacity: TBD
