A very special pre-meeting adventure will take you on a road trip over the famous Afsluitdijk to the province of Friesland and the city of Leeuwarden, European Capital of Culture 2018. To give you an impression: 

The bus will stop in Kimswerd, village of tradition, where you'll be serenaded by a choir of peasant women and introduced to the rebel army of Grutte Pier. Kimswerd is a partner in several community projects by Peergroup. Part of the tour through the Frisian landscape will be guided by Joop Mulder, who'll share his passion for this part of the country and his inspiration for Oerol, the international theatre festival on the isle of Terschelling that he founded in 1981 and led ever since. Also Ira Judkovskaja and her theatre company Tryater will present 'acte de presence'. They'll show you their way of working, for instance during the creation of '11 Stedentocht', a large scale performance about the notorious Frisian 200 km ice skating tour. Once you’ve arrived in Leeuwarden you'll of course get an insight into the city's vision for 2018 by Oeds Westerhof, who guided Leeuwarden's candidature to the winning title and who's now the organization's network director.
