Transnational unions to revive democracy
Departing from the current political, economic, humanitarian, and environmental crises of Europe, executive director of European Alternatives Daphne Büllesbach, representative of DiEM25 Ivana Nenadović, artist Jonas Staal, and New Unions founder and writer Chris Keulemans, together with various other pan-European activists and organisers among the audience, will gather in an assembly of ideas to revive democracy and the European project, while rejecting ultra-nationalist parties that demand separation from the European Union and seek to return to a mythical notion of the nation-state, as well as the political-economical functionary elite that has used the EU for its austerity politics.
The crisis of Europe has to be considered simultaneously as a crisis of imagination, and as such, it constitutes a fight that we, artists and professionals in the cultural field, have to fight by campaigning for alternative options for transnational alliances and forms of citizenship.
