Digital technologies have brought us into a world of instantaneity and interaction without intermediaries, inviting anyone to participate in society. One may assume we are moving towards a greater, bottom-up, direct democracy. But this phenomena of participation came along its own scheme of exclusion. Thus, every cultural and artistic institution, no matter what their size, risks to lose credibility if it doesn’t make use of digital tools. Sharing about what is happening in the black box across several digital platforms has become an overwhelming necessity, especially when our resources are limited. But what have we - artists, cultural institutions and audiences - gained in the knowledge of the other, in the quality of the interaction? Is digital an effective tool of inclusion and emancipation or, on the contrary, does it turn us and our practices into stereotypes?
