Participatory governance
Participatory governance has become a popular topic in the past three decades, often with a focus on democratisation and decentralisation of practices. The concept of participatory governance is usually defined as sharing governance responsibilities among different stakeholders who have a stake in what happens. Participatory governance is based on the synergy of actors from public institutions and civil society initiatives and organisations. Therefore, the central issue of participatory governance is the redistribution of power. Between information, consultation, collaborative decision, collaborative action and support to independent community interests, what are the different models of participatory governance in the arts? What do they result in: manipulation, tokenism or citizen control?
