Programming with the audience

Talks & workshops

How can we establish good programming with the audiences that keeps on challenging them and avoid falling into the pit of solely pleasing them? And who are the ones who should have a voice?

In this session, we will first learn from the long-time experience of Kilowatt Festival and its Visionari, a pool of spectators involved in the curation of the festival programme, a model which has spread in Italy. Then we will hear about the research outcomes of Be SpectACTive!, a large-scale European cooperation project which operates in performing arts through artistic productions and participatory practices aimed at involving audiences in creative and organisative processes. Finally, we will discuss why programming is an act of active spectatorship and citizenship.
