ROUTE 1: Lost in translation?
International co-producing: an effect of globalisation, a result of shrinking budgets, or a natural will to work together and build cultural bridges? What is the impact of collaboration between producers from different backgrounds on the content and aesthetics of the performing arts? Are we standardising the performing arts by creating something universal? Do we ask artists to adapt to each co-financer’s context or can they keep their own artistic language? Can we reflect on aesthetics without taking account of the origin (country/religion/culture) of the artist?
