Sound and Music Theatre
Contemporary sound and music theatre are on the rise. One can notice a proliferation of transdisciplinary projects, multimedia, contemporary opera or other musical experiments on the theatre scenes of Europe and around the world.
Live music is regularly a part of theatre plays and dance performances. Opportunities for meetings, contests and residencies for this genre are increasing. But what does make it different from other live art projects?
This session will focus on these and other vital questions related to the discipline of music theatre. The first part of the session will give a floor to the presentations by some interesting and engaged local artists. The second part will host a discussion and a short lecture about the situation of music theatre in Spain and about the influence of great artists, like Carles Santos. Finally, participants will have an opportunity to ask their questions and share their ideas.
This session is a regular event held during IETM plenary meetings. It is organised for producers, presenters and artists who are interested in being up to date with developments in music theatre and sonic art, presenting their past and future projects, sharing information about resources, new works, venues and festivals, opportunities, etc. The goal is to share ideas and experiences about different practices and approached to making music theatre.
