Legal and social recognition of sign languages is not yet a reality worldwide. They are still seen as the simple interpretation of spoken languages, despite the fact that they are the expression of distinct cultures. How can sign language on stage be considered as part of the artwork, not as an accessibility tool and not as related to gestures and body language? How can dramaturgy and scenography be more considerate of sign language?
