Where are you now? - Kay Schuttel
Kay Schuttel is an Amsterdam-based artist whose work explores the evolution of corporeal vocabularies and the intersection between performance and visual art. The site-specific durational performance Where are you now? consists of the choreography of bodily movements with mobile phones. The sequence is based on observations of people with mobile phones in public spaces.
By repeating the systematised movements hundreds of times, the performers reveal similarities with machines’ mechanical movements, in contrast to the human body’s own. The scene is a mirror reflecting the behaviour of people in public spaces.
