Culture: A Deal for Europe
On Tuesday, IETM attended 'Culture: A Deal for Europe' at Bozar, an event organised by Culture Action Europe, Europa Nostra, and the European Cultural Foundation.
Honest conversations occurred between policy makers and the sector, with everyone’s eye on the intentions of the new European Commission when it comes to culture and the arts.
Glenn Micallef, European Commissioner for Intergenerational Fairness, Youth, Culture and Sport spoke highly of the value of culture in current times, his intention to fight for its place with our support - seeing culture as an enabler and catalyst for different policy settings.
‘We have to have a united front. I will advocate for increased funding. This is just the initial conversation.’ Mr. Micallef stated.
IETM welcomes his words and will fight for a strong Creative Europe, dynamic cultural collaboration and international cultural relations in upcoming policy frameworks. As highlighted in our brand new publication The New International - Against All Odds, we detect a stronger than ever commitment by our IETM members and the sector at large to collaborate internationally and work together across boards.
