Culture as a Public Good: Navigating its Role in Policy Debates
In September 2022, 150 countries signed UNESCO's Mondiacult Declaration, recognising culture as a ‘global public good’. Ahead of the next Mondiacult conference in Spain in Autumn 2025, the global cultural policy community is contemplating what it truly means to view culture as a public good and how integrating this concept could reshape policies. The International Federation of Arts Councils and Culture Agencies (IFACCA) has developed a comprehensive study, incorporating perspectives and expertise from around the world, and has proposed a concrete vision for making the concept of culture as a public good a reality.
