IETM Out & About - May and June speaking engagements and upcoming activities
Over the past two months, the IETM team attended a number of important events to expand our network, foster new connections and stay in touch with our members outside of IETM’s own events. Take a look at what we participated in and note down upcoming opportunities to meet the IETM team in a face-to-face setting:
In May
Visitors programme Plat(e)form(e) - Brussels, Belgium
On 13-14 May, IETM Membership Manager Margherita Petti attended the Visitors programme Plat(e)form(e) in Brussels, organised by IETM members Wallonie-Bruxelles Théâtre Danse and Flanders Arts Institute together with Kunstenfestivaldesarts. The event aimed to open a temporary space for reciprocity, exchange and mutual reflection on what it means to create and present (inter)nationally today through presentations, networking sessions and collective discussions. At the same time, it highlighted and presented the unique performing arts scene of Flanders, Wallonia and Brussels.
The event was a great occasion for IETM to re-connect and establish new collaborations with Belgium-based professionals and organisations, as well as international ones.
In June
Sibiu Performing Arts Market - Sibiu, Romania
As the last stop on her June Bulgaria/Romania route, IETM Secretary General Ása Richardsdóttir attended the Performing Arts Market in Sibiu Romania. Held since 1997 in connection to the Sibiu International Theatre Festival - FITS - which celebrated its 31st edition this year, the market brings together professionals from around the world to discuss the most current topics. In connection to the visit, Ása alongside Tiffany Fukuma - Managing Director for Trans Europe Halles - and Stephane Stéphane Segreto-Aguilar - Network Coordinator for Circostrada - got the chance to explore Fabrica de Cultura, a former construction factory repurposed into a giant creation and production space for performing arts, courtesy of Florin Ticu and Dan Bartha from FITS. The Sibiu festival and the market play a very large role in attracting visitors to this beautiful Transylvanian city and it was very interesting for the participants to experience the ambitious plans the directors have envisioned for the city and for the benefit of the international performing community.
