In memoriam: Zane Kreicberga (1971-2024)
IETM joins performing arts colleagues and organisations across Europe and beyond in remembering Latvian theatre maker Zane Kreicberga, who passed away after a serious illness on 11 June.
Zane was a pioneer.
As one of initiators of the Latvian New Theater Institute, curators of the International Festival Homo Novus she brought new artistic work and perspectives to Latvia never seen and heard before and put Latvia on the map of the international performing arts scene, through multiplied international collaborations projects,
In addition to her work for LNTI and Homo Novus, Zane Kreicberga directed numerous theatre, opera and concert productions in Latvia. For more than 20 years, she was a lecturer at the Latvian Culture Academy where she initiated new programmes which greatly contributed towards new academic thinking and methodology.
