LJC News - Disability Art Project
In fulfilment of the Disability Art Project, under the Local Journey for Change, on 10-12 August Arojah Royal Theatre and two other partners, Potters Gallery Initiative and Joint Association of Persons Living with Disability are set to commence a 3-day Creativity Workshop for 30+ Young persons with Disability in Abuja, Nigeria, with the primary purpose of artistic development of the participants.
Based on a poll conducted among the PWD community, these 30 participants, selected from among over 60 who applied to partake in the workshop, would be taken through brief, but intense creativity workshops in the art of storytelling, playwriting, and short story writing.
On the 3rd and last day, being UN-designated International Youth Day, a brief event, during which the participants would share their experiences and works, as well as receive their certificates of participation will be held. This would include participation by other stakeholders in the disability sector and government, who would make brief remarks on disability access in the creative sector.
This project is part of the IETM Local Journeys for Change activity which is supported by the European Union as part of the IETM Network Grant 2022-2024 NIPA: the New International in the Performing Arts.
