Priorities of the Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the EU
In July, Hungary began its six-month rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union. The ‘culture chapter’ of Hungary’s programme includes intentions to strengthen the role of national and European culture in society and to foster people's access to culture. Particular attention is given to cultural heritage, especially digital access to it and its protection in the face of natural and human-made disasters. Culture’s role is seen as ‘social, community-building, and mental health-preserving’.
