Europe Beyond Access is an ambitious and far-reaching project with four major activity strands: Artistic Exchanges, Audience Development & Engagement, Capacity Building and Public Performances & Commissions.
Artistic exchanges
- 5 Transnational Artistic Laboratories bringing together disabled artists from across Europe for week-long workshops that are focused on experimentation
- 12 solo residencies
- 8 group residencies
- A Digital Exchange platform for artists to continue their conversations and collaborations online
Audience Development & Engagement
- A strong programme focused on building mainstream audiences for work by disabled artists, driving demand for artists on high profile stages, including Press and Media, social media, artist talks and online content
- A programme that reduces barriers to attendance for disabled audiences, including sign language interpretations, captioning, audio descriptions, disabled ambassadors, local partnerships with existing networks that work with potential disabled audiences and other actions that support access
Capacity Building
- Activities in this area help to support disabled artists in promoting and presenting their work, and building the knowledge of mainstream cultural managers and programmers in relation to the high quality of work available
- 4 new toolkits on Audience Development and how to best support disabled performing artists
- 15 e-newsletters packed with sector news and opportunities
- Local Arts Sector Capacity Building Events in each of the seven partner countries
Public Performances & Commissions
- 10 New Commissions from disabled artists
- 21 showcases of the work of disabled artists
- 4 new duets that tour to four partner countries as part of their showcase events
