Rural audiences
Working with (performing) arts in rural areas - often thinly but diversely populated - requires inventive ways of connecting to audiences. And this is on the background of scarce social and cultural facilities and shrinking budgets for the arts in rural areas.
What are the dynamics of the relation between audiences and performing arts professionals in rural areas? What is needed to create and continue a sustainable relation with rural audiences? Does a participative method help to create better and more sustainable relations? How to design a programme for a divergent rural audience? Is there a need or space for an educative approach? Can digital tools be helpful? Should we invest in bringing rural and urban audiences together? What is the fun of working in rural areas anyway? Starting with these multiple questions, we will join our minds in a collective reflection on how to connect with rural audiences in a most meaningful and enriching way.
