Visit of the Kolizey Centre
The building of the cinema "Colosseum" is one of the most interesting sights of Yekaterinburg: it was in this building that the first city theatre and cinema was located. Initially, the city theater in Yekaterinburg operated from 1843 to 1912 in a wooden building. In 1845, a stone building was built for the theater according to the design of architect K. G. Tursky. The funds for the construction were collected by the Yekaterinburg merchants. In November 1896, the first cinema session in Yekaterinburg was held here. A year later, representatives of the Lumière brothers came here, who gave nine sessions, which conquered the public. In 1914, the theater was renamed to "Colosseum", existing as a cinema to this day. After the revolution, the "Colosseum" is renamed to the "October" cinema. The former name was returned only in 2002, when Kinomax opened a cinema here.
