Sons and daughters, A play on the quest of happiness by Yannis Kalavrianos - Sforaris Theatre Company
Five young performers travelled all over Greece for 13 months, interviewing senior citizens and asking them to remember the single, significant story that changed their lives. Out of the 85 recorded interviews, they picked those that relate to historical events, translating to stage these true episodes that happened during immigration to the USA, Germany, Australia and Canada, during World War II, the German invasion, the Civil War, the building of the Berlin Wall, the Military Coup in 1967, the elections of 1981 and the rise of the socialist party of Andreas Papandreou and the Athens Olympic Games in 2004. The final play is a mosaic of unwritten short stories of everyday life, which sometimes looses its way, but insists on the quest of happiness, shedding light on what lays under officially recorded History.
