Kafeneia / Live Arts & Social Unrest: the Greek crisis case - Eugenia Tzirtzilaki
Director Eugenia Tzirtzilaki invites us to a kafeneio, where major social incidents of contemporary Greek reality are presented with reference to contemporary performance, “Live Arts & Social Unrest” presents the murder of Alexandros Grigoropoulos and the street protests in relation to Tzirtzilaki’s performance “Right of Wrong”, the Golden Dawn’s attack at Hitirio Theatre in the opening of Terrence McNally’s “Corpus Christi” in relation to Tzirtzilaki’s performance “Elle”, and so on. Eugenia Tzirtzilaki studied Journalism, Photography and Acting in Athens and Stage Directing (MFA) at Brooklyn College (NY). In 2003 she was awarded the Zoel Zwick Award for Outstanding Contribution to Theater. Her work has been presented in a number of institutions in the USA, Greece, Poland, Denmark and Cyprus.
