14:00 - 16:00 - Moderating Meaningful Conversations: The Art of Non-Evaluative Discussion of Performance
Organisation: Elena Gorlatova
Address: Theater Strahl Berlin, Marktstraße 11, 10317 Berlin | Event Map
Meeting point: Entrance of the theatre. There will be signs to guide you from the street.
A non-evaluative interview is a discussion method based on six to seven questions that help viewers, artists, and cultural mediators explore a performance without judgment. The workshops begin with watching a short excerpt or mini-performance, followed by a structured conversation focused on perception and interpretation of the artistic and conceptual part of the performance. After the discussion, you will learn how to moderate such discussions, introduce different formats for audience engagement, be creative with it, and demonstrate how this method can be applied during work-in-progress. It allows for early audience feedback before the premiere, helps highlight key artistic and thematic elements, and provides insight into what resonates with viewers. This approach is effective for both large audiences and small groups and works well for performances where audience perception is essential. This workshop suits very well for artistic directors, artists and dramaturges.
