‘In C’ by Sasha Waltz & Guests is based on Terry Riley's composition of the same name from 1964. In his piece, the composer provides 53 musical elements, leaving the sequencing up to the musicians. Sasha Waltz followed this principle and developed a modular system of 53 choreographic figures that follow a similarly variable structure. Since the premiere in 2021, the piece has been rehearsed and performed with a variety of groups. Regardless of language, origin, physical requirements and social background, this growing, international community follows a shared pattern of movements.

In the workshop, they will give you insights into the concept of ‘In C’ and invite you to learn and experience a first set of figures from the choreographic material.

Bring comfortable clothes and some water. Prior knowledge is not required.
