14:00 - 15:00 - How the search for grants turned us into cultural researchers
Organisation: OfW
Address: Hadlichstraße 6, 13187 Berlin | Event Map
Meeting point: Meet at the bench next to the entrance under the logo ‘SchuleEins’
The starting point of this thematic talk is the thesis: theatre in the free scene must have an obvious cultural added value, the aesthetic concept alone is not enough.
We have been realising theatre productions since 2017. Influenced by the funding on offer as well as our personal interests, our plays have been performed in seven Berlin districts, mostly at locations far removed from traditional theatres. The content and format respond to the space and history of their settings - urban history as a metaphor.
This has made us ‘cultural researchers’ in the realisation of our work.
Because our plays are always at least bilingual, we also see them as building bridges between different audiences. Through an introduction to our working methods, we'll present a part of Berlin's independent scene that takes place outside of the independent production houses and is very strongly influenced by the city and its history.

17:00 - 18:30 - HAU Digital Art Showcase: Performance, Technology, Gaming Culture & Networking
Organisation: HAU Hebbel am Ufer
Address: HAU1, Stresemannstraße 29, 10963 Berlin | Event Map
Meeting point: Entrance of HAU1
The digital stage HAU4 is a platform for the connection between performances & technology and gaming culture. The programme is presented both online and on the theatre stages. On 15 May, HAU will present outstanding HAU4 artists. The audience has the opportunity to immerse themselves in hybrid performances, interactive XR experiments and various game worlds. At the centre is the question of how an artistic perspective can be productive in dealing with social change, in which commercial technology and authoritarian politics are becoming increasingly intertwined. There will be an opportunity to engage in dialogue with the artists.
Artists:
allapopp, Anan Fries, Choy Ka Fai, Interrobang, Janne Kummer, Keiken, Lena Biresch, machina eX, onlinetheater.live, Patrick Blenkarn & Milton Lim and Theresa Reiwer.

BFDK and LAFT invite IETM members to meet with politicians and other stakeholders in charge of shaping cultural policies at federal and regional level. The Berlin Cultural Policy Reception is to celebrate regional, national and international networks and collaboration for fostering the independent performing arts. Insights into arts and culture policies in Germany and its international and European connections will be shared and project teams and networks of both associations are present to share their experiences with structural and policy support in the independent performing arts.
Drinks and finger food (vegetarian and vegan) will be available at no cost to participants.
