Symposia / The Use of Chorus as a Structural Performative Element in Contemporary Theatre - K. Alexis Alatsis
In this symposium, which includes video extracts from K. Alexis Alatsis and other directors’ works, guests are invited to discuss the diverse possibilities of using the Chorus within different theatre texts, exploring topics such as: chorus and reception; chorus versus crowd; chorus as element of the set; and chorus as an orchestra, etc. K. Alexis Alatsis studied musicology, music and theatre in Paris and Hamburg. Since 1989 he has been working as a director for opera and theatre in various countries. He has also worked as Section Manager for Culture at the Athens 2004 Olympic Games, and as Artistic Director of Patras 2006 - European Capital of Culture and of the Cacoyannis Foundation. He was the invited as a master artist for the 2011 Directors Lab at the Lincoln Center in New York.
