CANCELLED - Exursion UrbanSafari Amsterdam South East | An immersive journey into unfamiliar territory
The UrbanSafari, developed by Dutch theatre maker Adelheid Roosen and her theatre companies Zina and Adelheid|Female Economy, has become a well known concept in the Netherlands. Constantly tilting the perspective that we have on the other, the apparent stranger.
On the basis lies a unique research method: the Adoption. Professional actors spend two full weeks in the home of a neighbourhood resident. They sleep and eat in the same house and share their life stories. The creative encounter of their stories forms the basis for the performance, in which the actor and the ‘adoptive parent’ both equally share their lives with the audience.
Especially for IETM, we welcome you into the homes and lives of the people living in the infamous yet vibrant Amsterdam-neighbourhood the ‘Bijlmer’. After a short tour through the neighbourhood we settle down for an open conversation about the Safari-method, inspiration and creation process of the work with Adelheid Roosen.
