Advocating for the arts
Gripped in a vice of reduced budgets, how should we communicate with those who have the power to grant us the funding and support we need to do our work? Should we link the arts directly to the community in a way that demonstrates its value to politicians? Or should we advocate for the arts as an integral element of a healthy society which is not questioned in terms of production value? What strategy should we pursue to convince decision-makers of the role arts play in the European project? And what kind of project is it today – when neoliberalism and market-oriented agendas prevail?
After a short keynote by Member of the European Parliament Julie Ward, we will collect her and your opinions on the initiative “European Alliance for Culture and the Arts” (cofounded by IETM) and its recently released manifesto “The power of culture and the arts”.
