ROUTE 4: Fight for artists’ rights
Artists’ rights for freedom of expression are violated all over the world - by states, religious movements, media, corporations, families and even by artists themselves. Censorship takes various forms: from the most aggressive sanctions to concealed constraints. Even self-censorship presents itself under fear of losing financial support or in a bid to find a balance between respecting and provoking political, social and religious sensibilities.
Hosting the presentation of the ARJ (EU working group on Arts, Rights and Justice) toolkit for artistic freedom of expression, this session will arm you with some advice on how to avoid the pitfalls when protecting, defending or expressing our and others’ freedom of expression.
