ROUTE 2: Whose story is this, anyway?
As we all know, history is written by the victors. But who writes the stories we present on stage today? Or to be more precise: whose voices are heard? Nowadays, not everyone has access to the theatre, and therefore, the powerful public voice that it can provide. Is the right of any individual and community to access and participate in the cultural life guaranteed in our own sphere of influence? And who do we want to decide what will be staged and by whom: the programmer, the audience, the playwright, the producer, the company or its director?
