ROUTE 1: Biblioteca de cuerdas y nudos – José Antonio Portillo
Regular libraries hold books, tales and encyclopedias. Yet the Library of Ropes and Knots archives scraps of flurried memories. To get inside that space is to be privileged. La biblioteca de cuerdas y nudos is both a contemporary art installation and a theatre play inspired by Sand Collection from Italo Calvino. Emotionally and narratively charged, it began to take shape in 2003 in Portugal and has since been filled with various experiences from around the world. The round wooden set up plays host to many stories of life and daily poetry from London to Lisbon.
“An unforgettable exercise of anonymous work. Portillo knows how to remove complicity and create a confidence space. Both for children and adults.” Jordi Bordes (recomana.cat).
