Based on the actor Ahmed Tobasi’s personal coming of age story, AND HERE I AM is an epic voyage of identity and self discovery. We follow Tobasi through his transformation from armed resistance fighter to artist, and his journey as a refugee from the West Bank to Norway and back again.

Ahmed Tobasi was born in Jenin Refugee Camp during the first intifada. In 2002, at the age of fifteen, he joined the armed resistance, was shot, arrested and put in an Israeli prison for four years. Upon his release he decided to continue fighting, but this time with art. In 2008 Tobasi decided to travel to Norway where he applied for political asylum and trained as an actor in Nordic Black Theatre. In 2013 he returned to Jenin Refugee Camp and worked at The Freedom Theatre where he ran the youth programme.
Tobasi continues to act in and direct projects both in Palestine and internationally. Most recently he directed Images from the life of Ghassan Kanafani, which toured Portugal, and performed in The Siege (UK tour and The Freedom Theatre, Palestine). He currently is touring two productions internationally, Blood / Brothers and Let’s Talk About Sex.
