Geography of festivals in Portugal
How do contemporary curatorial practices relate to and address prevailing social and political structures? As curators, can we be critical of neoliberal political, social and artistic trends, while functioning within the established framework? Or should we step out of the system and embrace other forms of artistic collaboration and articulation? This session will bring into focus different Portuguese festivals, based in the province, some in remote areas, deeply interconnected with local communities and playing an active socio-political role in their specific local contexts.
