Festival DDD: Mara Andrade - The Lonely Tasks

Artistic programme

A solo that puts forward a series of studies where I intend to analyse and document the performing value of my body.

In The Lonely Tasks I set myself simple tasks, which I have already grasped, within an aseptic environment, so that my body reacts and puts itself on display: dining, cleaning, caring for the skin, knitting, engaging in physical activity, etc. Regarding the performance as a dynamic system, I focus on the relationship with the audience/those watching, and I try to stand there and understand this interdependency: performer-audience; performer-space; performer-time; etc. It is also about responsibility. My body. The performer’s body. The performer as a body. The body as a performer. Performing with the body. Performing without the body. The body in the performance. The performance’s body. • MA

Mara Andrade
Between medicine and dance, she is inspired by the physicality of emotional states and how they transform each other. In 2012, she created Uma Pequena Morte e Psicanálise (A Small Death and Psychoanalysis). In 2013, with Oxitocina (Oxytocin), she represented Portugal at the VI Young Artists Biennial, Salvador da Bahia, and co-created Por minha culpa, minha tão grande culpa (Through My Most Grievous Fault) with Marco da Silva Ferreira. From 2014 to 2015 she created the solo Um Triste Ensaio sobre a Beleza (A Sad Essay about Beauty) that premiered on October 4, 2015 at Teatro do Campo Alegre, in Porto.
