Copyright and long term financing of artistic work are today’s key issues. Defenders of copyright claim that it is absolutely necessary, as it is the only valid system for securing remuneration of authors for their creative work. Critics claim not only that both the author and the copyright are long-since dead, but in fact are among the key problems of global inequality and exploitation. Meanwhile, more and more artists are discovering and actively using Open Source and Creative Commons. If we live in an increasing knowledge economy and knowledge wants to be free – who will pay in the end?
