It is implicit that art is something "good" and that artists do "good" deeds, even when art produces very dark or even painful experiences and history shows us that art can be used as destructive propaganda. If the commonplace ethics of performing arts today are to represent minority perspectives and to oppose normative structures, in what sense is this effective? And if it were not, what strategy would be more effective?
