The Wedding - Word and Voice, Lviv Municipal Theatre, Art Research and Educational Center / Scene 6
The dramaturgy of the show is based on 28 ancient Ukrainian wedding songs that are intertwined with imaginative scenography and costumes to create a fragile, shimmering and intricately executed theatre performance. The Wedding is not a reproduction of traditional wedding rites. The performance uses a contemporary language about universal things that have been, are and will be relevant at all times, for all genders and all nationalities - love, human relationships, woman and man, children and parents.
Word and Voice (founded in 2010 in Lviv in Western Ukraine) is led by singer-actress and artistic director Natalia Polovynka. The centre interprets Ukrainian traditions by creating contemporary theatre and music performances, and also runs laboratories and practical workshops.
The Wedding was presented at national and international festivals: Golden Lion (Lviv, Ukraine), Porto Franko (Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine), INNOWICA (Poland), Melpomene of Tavria (Kherson, Ukraine).
