There is no home like place / Antonio Cerezo
What happens to us when the surroundings of our home are changing drastically? When we no longer recognise the place where we were born and feel more and more like strangers? This “paper theatre” piece tells the story of a man facing these questions, fighting to accept that his “safe place” is gone and forced to find a home again. Is home a place? A very personal, poetic and humorous reflexion.
Antonio Cerezo is a Mexican-born actor and director, who works in Mexico, the USA and Europe. In 1998, he became a member of La Mama New York where he worked for 7 years, doubling in institutions such as the Lincoln Center, Mabou Mines, The Ohio Theater and St. Ann’s Warehouse. Since 2007 he is living and working in Germany, as actor, director, puppet player, choreographer and teacher. His German work experience spans the Berliner Festspiele, Volksbühne Berlin, Thalia Theater Hamburg, Theaterhaus Jena, the Sophiensaele, Chamäleon Theater, Ballhaus Ost and the Schaubude. As an intercultural project, “There‘s no home like place” received funding from the Senate of Berlin.
