I would prefer not to… Re-Creating Europe
The experimental testing of waste paper (unprinted newsprint paper) creates surprising pictorial, sculptural, tonal and theatrical formations that can develop and open in different spaces, interspaces and passages. Based on Melville's text from “Bartleby, the Scrivener : A story of Wall Street”, the performance "I would prefer not to", asks us "to stop playing in the system, but still think" (Zizek), calls for individual self-questioning, breakthroughs, liberation and tearing actions by the actors and the audience. The remains of paper, shreds, crumpled material become the basis for building a new universe, a utopian landscape.
