Cultural democracy in practice
Following on from Nothing About Us Without Us, how can we move towards a model where participants create the programme, rather than just absorbing it?
Cultural democracy is as much about what is happening offstage as what is happening on it. Conversations around participation are often more about artistic process rather than governance and decision-making.
How can participants be authentically involved in the decision-making from programming to budgeting? How can we draw together an intersection of representation, such as class, sexuality, privilege, to avoid a silo of definitions?
The interactive format of the session will be an example of cultural democracy in practise in which participants can take their place at the table to have their say.
