IETM has a long history in the Euro-Mediterranean. The energy and diversity of IETM members has served to numerous professionals from the region involved in the creation, production, dissemination and documentation of contemporary performing arts in order to meet, exchange ideas and collaborate on productions and projects. Several initiatives were supported or initiated by IETM in this area in the past 15 years. (Cimetta Fund, Young Arab Theatre Fund, Danse Bassin Mediterranéen, Forum Euro-Méditerranéen des Cultures, 100 artists in Palestine...).

Two years ago, the IETM Secretariat revived contacts in Palestine during an unforgettable IETM Caravan.

In the context of the tumultuous "Arab Spring" in 2012, IETM went to Lebanon to meet the artists who are at the core of the current change.

During this IETM Caravan, the participants were invited to discover or rediscover the active cultural organisations and individuals of Mediterranean area. These three days allowed them to visit several places for artistic creation and dissemination, meet various performing artists, managers, programmers and cultural policy makers.
