Fair practice label in the arts
In the midst of budget squeeze and increasing pressure to perform - more and better, how can we assure our arts practices are ethically responsible and sustainable? How can we preserve the diversity of the arts and guarantee fair relationships in our sector?
Towards an inclusive culture
Art is said to have the power to break down barriers between different groups. But is our sector fully reflective of the diversity of realities lived in the cities we live in? What strategies has the arts world proposed to address the always other, gendered, raced, differently abled, or colonial body?
Fortress Europe
The purpose of the session was to pool together the reflections, experiences, recommendations and actions of the participants, working in the field of culture and the arts, thus trying to find some temporary working solutions to the urgent issue of refuge and migration.
Generation 2 Generation: How do they surf?
Surfing through virtual spaces has become a common habit for most of us. Technology is just an amplifier of abilities, especially for Generation Y; born between 1981 and 2000. Technology helps us do more – and faster. But who is in charge, medium or human? Is there a green line between the virtual and physical realities, or is this just old fashioned 'digital dualism'? And what is the place of liveness – the theatre – in this new reality?
Creative Storytelling: Transmedia & Transdisciplinary Storytelling
Transmedia storytelling is about building a narrative world through multiple channels: social media, gaming, film, novel, mobile app and some aspects of real live. Transdisciplinary storytelling deals in this session with the approach of pioneers working together with different fields of expertise’s.
All together now
Although collaborative economy started forming a trend in recent years with services like Airbnb and Uber, it is hardly a new phenomenon. With the culture of hacking and Do-It-Yourself, it can lead to fab labs, co-working spaces or community based platforms, completely shifting the way we work. But there are some difficult questions. What does this collaboration imply in terms of intellectual property? Where is the line between the producer and the consumer? What can we trust?
Ethical Behaviour and Moral Responses in the Arts
In this session, the participants aimed to discuss the very delicate balance between losing your audience and accepting support from controversial regimes or from sponsors whose practices are in conflict with our values.
Advocating for the arts
The goal of the session was to exchange ideas, experiences and best practices on how to convince policy-makers – on local, national and European levels - of the essential role culture and the arts play in the development of European societies.
