Triple
Cie LOLdanse
Triple is a reworking of an older piece, Marine, which has followed us around for a number of years. This more complex form reveals more of the project’s internal construction, whose choreographic part is based on random choices within a given set of strictly defined possibilities. These possibilities are too numerous to fit within the length of the piece, so the entire set of elements is never fully used in a single performance. For this reworking, we decided to put forth – or allow to be sensed – THREE simultaneous executions of a single proposal, which were by nature different, yet fundamentally identical and linked to each other.
The three dancers are positioned independently of each other in three spaces, which, although they can be seen at the same time, force spectators to readjust their vision so that not everything can be seen at the same time. The music – a long electronic build-up of 666 “pure” sounds – is “almost” the same for the three spaces, aside from a small time lag varying over a span of a few tenths of a second, creating the effect of the three spaces continually chasing each other, doubling up, and responding to each other.
