On the occasion of this IETM Satellite meeting, in collaboration with Teatro de La Laboral in Gijón, and the Festival BAD in Bilbao, performing arts professionals had the opportunity to discover some facets of the contemporary cultural scene in northern Spain.
Cultural production in Spain is increasingly appearing outside of the Madrid-Barcelona axis. The last years have witnessed the emergence of new production and diffusion centres in Spain. The strengthening of the Autonomous Communities (regions) has facilitated the growth of zones of creativity outside of “the centres”. It is in fact, this ex-centricity, and its comparison with other examples in Europe, which formed the subject of the debates of the meeting.
