IETM Multi-location in Ireland (online)
Given current travel and gathering restrictions, the local Plenary meeting in Ireland will be hosted entirely online by our members Irish Theatre Institute, Lian Bell, the Theatre Forum and Tom Creed. Please find below the introduction by the local hosts, as well as the local programme and practical information of the local meeting.
Introduction by the local hosts
New restrictions have recently been introduced for the Dublin area as we brace ourselves for a second wave of Covid-19. These new restrictions immediately put all of Dublin Theatre Festival and some of the last days of Dublin Fringe Festival in jeopardy, and saw the closure of arts venues and cultural spaces across the city.
We are taking the question ‘What Matters Now?’ to heart. We are asking Irish artists and arts leaders to begin conversations that we can all join in with. In the face of ongoing uncertainty, valiant struggles and creeping exhaustion; in the face of restrictions on our movements and on the things that give our lives meaning; in the absence of touch, the fear of proximity, the sense of isolation. While we can only see each other on screen, it is vital that we continue to connect and share our thoughts, our hopes, and our plans for the future.
Irish Theatre Institute/Lian Bell and Theatre Forum, with the input of director Tom Creed, offer IETM members, the Irish performing arts community and our international colleagues an opportunity to meet, discuss and learn from each other.
Irish Theatre Institute also invites IETM members to register to watch the pitching sessions of International Theatre eXchange (ITX), created in partnership with Culture Ireland and Dublin Theatre Festival. For the 27th consecutive year, ITX offers a platform for Irish theatre artists and companies, programmed during Dublin Theatre Festival, to present their work and exchange ideas and models of working particularly around international touring and collaboration.
Have connection and exchange ever been more important than now?
Note that some of the sessions in the programme below require an additional external registration.
