IETM Multi-location in Milan
The local Plenary meeting in Milan, Italy, will be organised by our members Liv.in.g, Associazione Etre, Fattoria Vittadini, Progetto C.Re.S.Co. and Effetto Larsen in collaboration with La Fabbrica del Vapore. Please find below the introduction by the local hosts, as well as the local programme and practical information to help you plan your stay in Milan.
Introduction by the local hosts
First to be hit by the pandemic and still one of the countries that suffered it the most, Italy is facing a challenging time - and the performing arts sector was not spared. The Covid-19 crisis has in fact underlined some old weaknesses of the Italian cultural system, while making us discover at the same time new possible models that can lead to long-awaited changes.
Symbolically held in Milan, the heart of the pandemic and our “international capital” in the last years, the Italian Plenary hub will take advantage of the IETM Multi-location Plenary Meeting to focus on reconnecting live and strengthening the relationship between Italy, IETM and the international community.
We will offer newcomers a space to enter the IETM community, with the aim to build a larger, wider and more diverse Italian delegation within the network as well as a stronger lobby in Italy on international topics.
Our programme will focus on sharing practices, new models as well as info and updates about opportunities, fundings, programmes: a toolkit that we will develop with a bottom-up session, a peer-to-peer approach, and a top down moment, with external speakers.
Come and join us to start regenerating the Italian way to cooperate internationally…with a good glass of wine, of course.
Registrations for the physical local meeting in Milan closed on 28 September but you can still register here for the full IETM Multi-location online programme.
Maximum capacity: 70 participants

Performance: Excelsior by Salvo Lombardo / Chiasma, in colllaboration with MilanOltre During those years progress was being celebrated through Universal Expositions, the industrial revolution, colonialism and the concept of national identity was consequently emerging. Having said that, Salvo Lombardo, the leader of the Chiasma company, asks himself what is left of the Western cultural heritage from the late 19th century. Which iconographies and images of the Gran Ballo Excelsior still emerge, in different forms (maybe only in appearance), in the ways we represent the other, draw their bodies and develop relationships between Europe and the so-called ‘rest of the world’? This is not a re-staging of a traditional ballet, rather it is a relocation to try and find new territories by reflecting on the stereotyped images in the light of the new languages we use to describe the current times. Special price for IETM participants: euro 6.50 Mandatory booking at miol@elfo.org (the venue will have limited capacity due to Covid restriction). Venue: Teatro Elfo Puccini |
