On Thursday 20 April 2023 at 15:00 - 17:00 CEST, the IETM Green School presented the first of three online, hands-on training sessions, facilitated by Nadia Mirabella, co-founder of Chloe Sustainability. Nadia armed our members with the basic knowledge needed to understand what goes into a selected set of carbon calculators/protocols and demonstrate concrete examples with hands-on exercises.
Climate change is an indisputable and imminent emergency for our society and planet - pivotal changes are necessary to limit rising global temperatures of up to 1.5°C.
We need a structured, holistic and science-based approach to enable us and our organisations to make a meaningful contribution. Numerous schemes, tools and methodologies currently exist to help estimate the carbon footprint of products and processes - including artistic production - but this proliferation can lead to confusion and a lack of homogenous figures. It is therefore important to find the right tools to satisfy our needs and goals and to provide transparent, tangible results.
IETM Green School activities are reserved for IETM members only.
Facilitator: Nadia Mirabella
Nadia is co-founder of Chloe Sustainability, and an expert in Sustainability Domain and Life Cycle Assessment. She has worked extensively in research and consultancy for the last ten years, using science-based methods for a wide range of studies from products to services in order to support strategic sustainability knowledge. She holds a PhD in Engineering Science from KU Leuven (Belgium), awarded as one of the most innovative European Universities. There, she developed an LCA-based method to evaluate environmental impacts on an urban scale; the City Environmental Footprint. In May 2020, she received the prestigious prize “Young Scientist Life Cycle Assessment Award” from SETAC Europe, a leading organisation in the field of environmental studies, sustainability and LCA. Since March 2021, she has joined Quantis as Senior Analyst and Sustainability Consultant.
IETM GREEN SCHOOL
The Green School is a new IETM-led membership-wide initiative to empower our members to take concrete steps towards bringing environmentally sustainable changes to their local professional contexts. Throughout March to November 2023, the programme will develop in several steps and offer different approaches to capacity building, including an open call for training towards the end.
