‘Re-imagining international collaborations’ prompts us to rethink where connections happen, who is excluded from these conversations and what the means we use to move are, as well as the environmental impact they cause.
Since 2014, Tanja Råman and John Collingswood from the Oulu-based dance/tech association TaikaBox have been building systems to address such questions, using technology to reduce the amount of travel required to work internationally. In 2023, TaikaBox began a fruitful collaborative research with IETM Member Stephanie Felber, choreographer and videographer, who has worked on developing multimedia, participatory and site-specific performances that challenge traditional boundaries.
In this edition of the IETM Green School, we will dive into their ongoing research into innovative and sustainable methodologies for connecting artists and audiences without crossing borders.
We will learn about the technology of the Connected Studio System, developed by TaikaBox to connect geographically remote spaces and create performances together in a telemetric space. Stephanie and Tanja will also perform for us via the Connected Studio showing how live video and sound can be combined to stimulate different movement responses. There will also be an opportunity for some participants to perform virtually and test the tool’s functionalities.
Registrations to the workshops will open on Monday 24 February 2025 after the online kick off session: REGISTER FOR THE KICK OFF
