Numax-Fagor-plus (FR)
Roger Bernat / FFF
In 1979, after two and a half years of self-management, the workers at the Numax electrical appliance factory in Barcelona decide to leave the company and join the unemployed. Thirty-two years later, in 2013, the Basque electrical appliance cooperative Fagor closes its doors, leaving its employees in the street. Like those that perform re-enactments of the battle of Waterloo, the employees of Fagor reconstruct the history of the Numax workers.
Rather than the charismatic reinterpretation for our context of a battle won or lost, Numax-Fagor-plus is the collectivisation of a discourse, the development of a battle that clearly never ended. The discourse still belongs to everyone, and yet when we go to chant words of protest, we realise that we cannot remember them. It is the words that remind us.
