Following the 1st meetings that have been organised in the frame of the Africonnexions project, this encounter aimed at facilitating international cooperation based on mutual understanding of artistic and working practices.
The seminar was strongly centered on content and research. Research in dance is still weak in Africa. The seminar aimed to open a reflection on contemporary dance in Africa focused on the development of a contemporary artistic sector in a global context. The questions of tradition/modernity and cultural identities are at the heart of issues of African contemporary dance but also of those in other parts of the world. The objective was to question the development of contemporaray forms in a global context, to better unedrstand the body and the transformation of performance practices in a world of international influence and artistic exchange.
